MOSS was founded in 1923

MOSS was founded in 1923 by Henry Octavius “Mann O” Rowe, then twenty years old. Rowe would go on to serve for several decades as Secretary of State of the Accompong Maroon Council and as keeper of the 1738 Treaty between the Maroons and the British Crown. Under his stewardship, MOSS held responsibility for the records of the State and for the protection of its institutional standing.

MOSS operated under Rowe’s direction until his passing in 2006, after which the office was dormant for eight years. In 2014, MOSS was re-established under Secretary of State and resumed its historical functions within the continuity of government of the State of Accompong.
